The Lacey Act doesn’t just cover animals, it covers plants and trees too. There is a black market for illegally harvested wood for furniture, in fact a Florida couple recently got caught importing and selling illegal lumber. While this isn’t directly animal news, it is an example of how interconnected smuggling and trafficking circles are - and how native habitats and their wildlife are at risk.
