• New World Screwworm has been detected in a few more places here in the south - further into Texas and now New Mexico. It has crossed species into dogs. Remember that in canines, regular flea and tick prevention medication is effective in protecting dogs from being infected. Stay informed and up to date with screwworm.gov

• The bill to ban big cats, bears, and non-human primates in Illinois is on the governor's desk awaiting signature.

• The bill to ban exotic animal performances in New York is also awaiting signature - the assembly has adjourned and the governor has until the end of the year to sign it.
