    Eleven days of rain barely put a dent in attendance at the Sept. 28-Oct. 21 State Fair of Texas, Dallas, where more than two million turned out, and the weather caused problems, but not calamity for the North Carolina State Fair, Raleigh, where a record 977,256, for a 10-day fair, showed up, and the 149th annual South Carolina State Fair, Columbia, where attendance of 443,712 topped last year's numbers.
